Scholarship Application

    The essay is necessary to provide information to understand the merits, accomplishments, and other reasons why the applicant should be selected for the 2017 Professional Development Scholarship. The essay should describe your experience, professional and personal accomplishments, and career goals and objectives.   In addition to these elements, the essay will be scored on organization, clarity and persuasiveness.   The essay should be 250-1000 words and should not include positions held or Company names.

    I acknowledge that I am applying for a 2017 Professional Development Scholarship. I understand that should I be awarded a scholarship for 2017, it would only be applicable for registration and approved T&E charges associated directly with the 2017 Professional Development opportunities.

    In addition I understand that I must be an active TBTA member at the time of reimbursement and that receipts must be provided to TBTA for any items that are to be reimbursement associated with professional development events.

    Some activities that are pre-approved by the 2017-2018 TBTA Board are as followed:

    • GBTA continuing education programs (including Legislative Symposium, GTP, GLP, Education Day)
    • Global Congress on Risk Management sponsored by HospitalityLawyer.com
    • TBTA membership
    • Texas BTA Education Day  
    • GBTA membership
    • GBTA convention attendance(including air, 4 nights lodging room and tax and/or airport parking)
    • MPI membership
    • MPI convention attendance(including air, 4 nights lodging room and tax and airport parking)
    • ACTE Membership
    • ACTE convention attendance(including air, 4 nights lodging room and tax and airport parking)
    • Continuing education at an accredited university in a field that benefits a travel industry career goal

    My company leadership has been made aware of my intent to request this scholarship and has expressed that they will support any event attendance should I receive the scholarship, and we acknowledge this is nontransferable.

    Should I be unable to use the professional development funds, I agree to provide TBTA written notification by December 19, 2017 so the funds can be awarded to another member.
