We are very excited to welcome James "Jamey" Caruthers, Senior Staff Attorney from the Children at Risk organization, to learn more about human trafficking within the state of Texas. Jamey graduated from the University of Houston Law Center in 2008, and focused on commercial and corporate litigation at Fridge & Resendez, LLC prior to joining Children at Risk in September 2014. Jamey previously worked for a political action committee, and is the architect of CHILDREN AT RISK’s human trafficking legislative agenda. He has drafted numerous bills designed to improve Texas’s response to the crime of human trafficking which are now law. 

By the end of this session you will be able to:

• Identify when and where human trafficking may be occurring
• Understand work being done to improve legislative policy
• Learn about deterrent techniques being implemented to combat human trafficking
• What we can all do to battle this issue in each of our respective roles
